In a broad sense prophecy means to communicate God’s truth with God’s power. The joy of studying prophecy is realizing that God is confiding His Truth to you for your good and His glory. Jesus Christ, God’s Son stands at the center of all prophecy. The revealing of Him is found throughout the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation. Revelation is the consummation of God’s story. He has entrusted His words to you so that your life might be anchored in Him in the midst of a broken world.
God gives us prophecy so that we would understand our #HIStory, keeping #Jesusatthecenter, and be able to face the Future. God reveals enough to give us a reasonable faith. We can have confidence in God’s Word and live by it because #GodWins.. When we look at prophecy we see our past, our present, and the promise of our future.
God reminds us that His Word is true when we look at #HIStory and understand that the One who determines world events is the same One who has the power and authority to make them happen. #HIStory confirms that the Bible is true. The Bible is a perfect book, about a perfect God, explaining perfect Redemption to an imperfect people. The idea of Redemption is at the center of world events, because Jesus is at the center of #HIStory.
Over and over in the Bible we see God speaking. He is the source of prophecy. The Holy Spirit guided human authors. These writers were given God’s very words in their mouths to speak or in their minds to write. The prophet Isaiah says this in Isaiah 50:4, “The Sovereign Lord has given me a well-instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being instructed.” A prophet sometimes would speak into the present and at the same time predict the future. Prophecy is telling or proclaiming as well as foretelling or predicting. God created time, He stepped into time, and time as we know it will end and unity will be achieved. (See Isaiah 46:9-10, Galatians 4:4-5, and Ephesians 1:8b-10) Where do you find the anchor for your soul, in world events or in the God who controls them?
As we wait for the return of Jesus to the earth, will you find your anchor in Him? Prophecy proves that God is in control of my past, my present, and my future. How will you look at your past, your present, and your future knowing that it has been orchestrated and satisfied in the Architect and Author of #HIStory? What might change in your world if by faith, you suddenly found yourself anchored in God’s care and love, as well as the truth of His Word, knowing that He has entrusted it to you, confided to you, and revealed Himself and His perfect plan for you?.
