Principles from … the Acts of the Apostles

How can my life be more like the early believers who had seen Jesus?

Believers yield their purposes and plans daily in a F2F relationship with Christ.

Believers who immerse themselves in Scripture will develop a biblical worldview and grow in a F2F relationship with Christ.

Believers are given power by The Holy Spirit to experience a F2F relationship with Jesus.

Acts 1

Dynamic believers indwelt with the Holy Spirit living and proclaiming the gospel are Worldchangers.

Jesus expects me to be cooperating with His Holy Spirit waiting for His return.

Prayer unites God’s people and is a necessary part of our active obedience.

WHAT IS YOUR VISION FOR YOUR CHURCH AND YOUR WORLD?

Acts 2

Spirit-filled believers live a transformed life.

Spirit-filled believers find empowerment to speak up for their faith through a transformed life.

Spirit-filled believers unite with the body of Christ to live out their new and transformed life.

Acts 3-7

Power to serve comes from obedience to the Truth that has been revealed.

Strengthening comes during times of prayer and purification.

Standing for Truth is to live by the Spirit, when we do; the flesh does not control us.

Acts 8:1-9:30

What does a revolution look like?

God knows the hearts of those who are fully committed to Him.

God sees responsive hearts in likely and unlikely people.

NO Heart is too hard for Jesus Christ to change.

Will you let Jesus start a revolution in you?

Acts 9:31-12

Attitude adjustment are answers to prayer!

Christ followers are encouragers of each other.

Our connection with the Source comes from growing faith and honest prayer.

We have a world-changing message and it needs to go to the ends of the earth and God wants to use Christians to give it out!

Do you want to change the world?

Walk closely with God.

Obey Him.

Reach out to people outside of your comfort zone.

Look for those God is reaching or softening.

Disregard criticism.

Acts 13

God’s work involves the Holy Spirit, who makes the call.

God’s work involves the Holy Spirit to overcome evil and save souls.

God’s work involves the Holy Spirit making His disciples experience joy in spite of persecution.

Acts 14

Believers should expect divisiveness and difficulty.

Believers should expect and rely upon God’s Power and Grace.

Believers should expect the unexpected.

Believers rely on the Living God and Creator of the Universe.

Believers complete the task that God has for them.

Believers commend their work to God’s Trustworthiness and Faithfulness.

Acts 15

Believers are no longer bound to sin, you are free in Christ.

Grace filled living loves others and avoids being an offense to them.

Right doctrine promotes right thinking in a Postmodern World.

Hebrews 1:1-2:4

Who do you say Jesus is?

What will you do with Him?

Jesus is the fullness of God expressed with finality and completeness.

Jesus is the fullness of God and Ruler over all.

Jesus is the fullness of God expressed as the Savior of the World.

Hebrews 2:5-4:13

Why did God become a man?

To rest in Christ alone is to have your sin forgiven and your guilt removed.

What does that mean?

When we rest in Christ alone we show the profession of our faith by our endurance in Christian commitment.

Am I missing something?

Rest in Christ alone is discovered in Scripture, it diagnoses our need and points to God’s power.

Hebrews 4:14-6:20

Jesus, Our High Priest, makes God available in all of life’s circumstances.

When you recognize your needs, then you will discover your need for a Savior.

God’s Word and His character are unchangeable.

Hebrews 7-10

Jesus, our High Priest transforms the life of the believer…

…He was the perfect sacrifice for sin; therefore His work is permanent and complete.

…with knowledge and understanding of who He is.

…by providing a remedy for sin, which cleanses the conscience, offers forgiveness, and never needs repeating.

…by giving confidence and determination to continue her commitment to God’s will.

Hebrews 11-13

Maturing faith puts God at the center of your whole life… heart and mind.

Maturing faith involves accepting encouragement and admonishment for myself while shepherding others.

Maturing faith requires thoughtful consideration for others and reflective obedience.

Acts 15:36-18:22

God guides believers through God-centered disagreements and Spirit-led delays.

God guides believers into and through opposition.

God guides believers as they engage the culture while giving them times of spiritual renewal.

1 Thessalonians

Believers are empowered by God to live a strong Christian life inwardly and outwardly.  That’s Transformation!

Believers are empowered by God to set and maintain spiritual goals.

Believers are empowered by God to be living holy, alert, and self controlled when Christ returns.

“There is a flow to history and culture. This flow is rooted and has its wellspring in the thoughts of people.

People are unique in the inner life of the mind — what they are in their thought-world determines how they act.

This is true of their value systems and it is true of their creativity.

It is true of their corporate actions, such as political decisions, and it is true of their personal lives.

The results of their thought-world flow through their fingers or from their tongues into the external world.

This is true of Michelangelo’s chisel, and it is true of a dictator’s sword.”

(Francis A. Schaeffer, How Should We Then Live?, Ch. 1)

2 Thessalonians

The believer’s life is passionate activity for Christ…

…revealed with strength and in wholehearted commitment to Him.

…revealed in a love for the Truth.

…revealed in consistency and discipline.

Acts 18:23-21:15

It is not enough to know about Jesus, there must be a personal relationship with Him.

Teaching the Word of God brings about extraordinary life changing results.

The quality of your love for others will distinguish you from the world around you.I Cor

1 Corinthians 1-7

Becoming mature in Christ is a lifelong process not a onetime event.

Christ’s power and wisdom is the solution to all sin and resulting problems.

Whether married or single, Christ, the power and wisdom of God enables a believer to obey God.

1 Corinthians 8-16

God’s plans and purposes include surrendering our Christian liberty in love to one another. In other words…Just because you can does not mean that you should.

God’s plans and purposes include spiritual gifts used in love to edify His church.

God’s plans and purposes for your life include a resurrection.

2 Corinthians 1-7

God promises to lead believers through difficult times, as a result you will attract others to Him.

God has made you a new creature that has the potential to live in eternity, at this very moment.

God gives believers the ability to cooperate with His Holiness.

2 Corinthians 8-13

The indescribable Grace of God creates generous giving in the believer.

God’s grace has given us the mind of Christ; He is our thought process.

How do we gain control of our thoughts?

We memorize Christ’s mind.

We personalize Christ’s mind.

We analyze ourselves.

We ask questions about ourselves.

We believe that Christ is victorious…

The will of God will not take you where the grace of God cannot keep you.

Ephesians 1

Do you understand your faith so much that you can live it out?

What does it mean to be in Christ?

Believers are to live NOW in the heavenly realm of their spiritual blessings in Christ.

What does it look like to know Christ?

Prayer makes possible a deeper knowledge of Christ and His blessings….

Ephesians 2-3

What does it mean to have Christ in your heart?

Christ fills individuals with life by grace through faith.

Individual believers fill the church to reveal God’s plans and purpose for humanity.

Believers fill the church, and then the church fills the world with the fullness of Christ.

Christ fills individuals.

Individuals fill the Church.

Church fills the world.

…to dwell in means to take up residence and to move about freely…  He gives life to your thoughts, your passions, your desires, your purposes, and your character…

A believer in Christ lives a maturing life together with other believers.

A believer’s life is a process of action and heart changes.

Mutual respect and submission will benefit all believers in every day life.

Ephesians 6:10-24

Knowing the enemy puts your personal battles into their proper perspective.

Christians need to stand in God’s armor and His Word to find protection and engage the enemy.

Prayer is a strategy that the devil cannot overcome and the energizer for you to persevere in daily battle.

James 1-2

To respond rightly to a trial, we must first know it it a test or a temptation.

Real faith is not just knowing the Bible, it’s doing it.

True faith always produces fruit.

James 3-4

If I think it, I will say it.

It’s an arrogant person who doesn’t see the need to submit.

Patience and prayer reveal trust in a compassionate and merciful Lord.

1 Peter 1-2

Sojourners find their new life in Christ begins with a new birth and a new hope.

Sojourners find the Bible reasonable, reliable, and beneficial for spiritual growth.

Sojourners are called to live a radical way of life.

Sojourners live as Christ lived, a submissive (obedient) servant.

1 Peter 3-5

Cultivating God’s life in you leads to inner beauty.

Suffering is part of a maturing process that grows us into Christ likeness.

Living for Christ means to prepare ourselves as well as the next generation of leaders.

2 Peter and Jude

Ultimate Questions everyone must answer…

Is there a God and if so what is He like?

Why am I here?

What is my purpose?

What happens when I die?

What does it mean to be human?

How will I live today?

A steadfast heart is dedicated to Truths found in God’s Word.

Faith entrusted to Christians is only discovered in the Bible, the Word of God.

Christians are to be alert to false teaching and expose their evil.

If you don’t stand for something you will fall for anything.

The persevering power of God gives hope and victory to the believer in Christ.

Hope comes from trusting Jesus Christ.

Hope comes from remembering all that God has done for us.

Hope grows as we depend on God in difficult times.

To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy—to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.”

Acts 21:16-28:31

God’s providence guarantees that God’s will is accomplished.

Providence is the care and the charge of God over His creatures.  The same power which caused everything to exist is necessary to continue its existence.

God’s promise guarantees true freedom while moving within God’s will.

What promises has God given you this year?  How will you stand firm with it?

God’s protection guarantees ending up where you are supposed to be.

Are you where you are supposed to be?

How is your life more like the early believers who had seen Jesus?
